    Stats after three weeks

Every week the Lincoln newspaper shows the stats for every Big 12 team. Here's some...

Scoring defense - Best - OU (4.7) ISU is 9th (22.0) - below us - Baylor, CU, OSU

    Rush Offense - Best A&M (248.0) ISU is 3rd (209.3) - behind KU

Rush defense - Best OU (40.7) ISU is 10th at (149.3) - behind us Baylor and CU

Pass Offense - Best Tech 444.3 we're 11th 173.7 the worst is Baylor

    Pass Defense - Best Baylor 145.0 we're 7th 222.7

    Total Offense - Best A&M (589.5) ISU is 8th (383.0) - last is Baylor

    Total Defense - Best OU (223.3) ISU 9th (372.0)

    *********************************

    Individual -

ARob is 2nd in rushing behind Helu (NU)

And that's all that shows up in the Top 10

It's interesting that many talked about this was the year Baylor would start going somewhere - stats ain't proving it...

    Re: Stats after three weeks

I like to look at the team stats on the NCAA website, I believe it is the same ones that Chris Williams posted on here a while ago. A-Rob is 15th in the nation in rushing. Here it is

They've actually played some decent teams. Can't take that away from them.

There are seriously 3 guys with an average of 108.67 yards per game? Twilight Zone anyone?

And they have only played two games, whereas every other Big 12 team has played 3.

Anyone notice Patrick Mealy (no. 51) from Army? Dude is averaging 10 yrds per carry. Better watch out for that.

    Re: Stats after three weeks

The only stat I care about is 2-1.

And by the way, we have the same record as USC, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, and Ohio State. I wonder how many of them will be able to keep up with us for the next week or two.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

    Re: Stats after three weeks

Paul Rhodes at 2-1 (.667) is the winningest ISU football coach since Clyde Williams posted a (.673) for his 1907-1912 clubs that went 32-15-2.

Paul Rhodes: Winning-est coach since Clyde Williams.

Of course, there's a whole season ahead, but it feels good to say.

A win against Army will place him tied for second behind A.W. Ristine's 1902-1906 clubs. (tied...sort of.. with an unofficial tally of 2-1-1 for Ira C. Brownlie's 1892 club).
