Marty & Miller = really bad radio

Marty and Miller in my opinion have been especially bad this week. I know the responses will be to stop listening but I have a 20 minute commute back and forth and I have to listen to something so I always start with 1460.

Tuesday, I actually listened longer than normal because I went to the ISU women's game. The big debate was not speculation on who the NBDL coach would be if Des Moines gets a team but whether M&M should even be speculating. Miller had a source and wanted to throw out a name but Marty was scared of angering Jerry Craword and Gary Kirke because he wants to be the play by play guy. Marty will discuss and rip into anything related to ISU but is unwilling to talk about a NBDL coach. That is pathetic. It got somewhat laughable when Miller's phone kept ringing and Marty kept screaming to turn it off but Miller was too stupid to figure it out.

Wednesday, Marty was talking about his dentist who was his number one source in the ISU coaching search. His dentist told him it was going to be Norvell and Marty ran with it. This time he was talking about switching dentists and had a couple callers call in talking about his old dentist. How bad can you get?

Yesterday, after ISU, Iowa and Drake won and the death of Barry Stevens, all these 2 clowns could talk about was a wrestling picture in the front page of the Register. Marc Hansen came on and all Marty did was yell at him. It would have been a great chance to hear Hansen reflect on Barry Stevens but that would have made too much sense.

Miller without Marty would be okay but Marty brings him down. Marty is just bad. Because his style is to be controversial, I cannot believe a word that comes from his mouth. I think a statement as to how pathetic Marty is, is that he has been in sports radio for probably 10-15 years maybe longer but his current dream job is to do play by play for a Des Moines NBDL team. I am sure it would a good job for someone starting out or someone local but a radio guy from the east coast begging to do NBDL in the Midwest is sad.

    I miss Deace.

I don't mind listening as much as I used to when they were with the other station.

Marty was sick last week a few days and it was the best the show has been.

I heard that briefly about the wrestling picture. I didn't quite understand what they were getting so mad about and grilling the guy from the Register. There was definetly a lot of other things they could have been talking about.

That's why if 590 is coming in I switch it over there. Granted, I won't get to heat a lot of ISU stuff, but they do hit on it. I've heard all of our coaches on it. Plus, I can listen to people from other parts of the Big XII.

Re: Marty & Miller = really bad radio

I posted this in another thread but it fits in pretty well here....

I couldn't agree with this post more. The whole DMR wrestling picture tirade that Marty was on yesterday really had me quickly reaching for the radio dial. What he was saying was really idiotic and Mark Hansen was right when he said he was embarrassing himself. A complete non-issue that went on for 2 hours. ( I kept flipping back hoping to hear some sports talk.)

    ATTN: KXNO executives....
Williams and Blum's show they do on Sunday mornings on KASI would fit very nicely in the M and M time slot.

Re: Marty & Miller = really bad radio

We looked it up today at work. I showed it to a lot of people, both men and women. Then consensus was "Big Deal." It was pretty muched agreed that it was a group of cheerleaders that reacted when the action got a little too close. It think it would be anybody's reaction when somethin like that happened. They're jsut trying to make something out of nothing.

Even if you moved Blum or Jeff Kaun (spelling) from Cotlar's show and teamed him up with Ken it would be MUCH better radio. I'm wondering if they are transistioning Jeff Kaun to be Cotlar's sidekick in the morning with Blum taking over the controls? Seems like this has been happening in the past week where Jeff moved into the studio with Cotlar for some segments.

I think that's been what's going on also.

Cotlar needs someone to kick him around some in the studio, and Geoff does a pretty good job of it most of the time.
