Movie: The Departed ** spoiler info **

I just watched this recently and the end left me with questions. Maybe it was supposed to.

    - Bill left the Psych girl with a letter and said open it if I die. Later Bill is killed. Are we to assume that she opened this letter and gave the info to Marky Marky and that is why Sullivan is gunned down in the last scene?
    - Was the baby Bill's or Sullivan's? I think it was Bill's but she was going to see how Sullivan would react to the news she was pregnant to decide if she wanted to move away with him, their future, etc.
    - Was Frank and FBI informanat. I guess he was and that is why all the phone calls Frank ever made were recorded. Correct?

This was a great movie. Scorcese (sp?) will probably take home director honors at the Oscars for this flick.

This was one of the best movies I'd ever seen until the last 10 minutes. Talk about the most un-original ending ever. 4 guys get blasted in the head. I think the director wanted to end the movie quick or something

The end reminds me of "True Romance" where everyone dies as well.

This movie is awesome, Martin Scorsese did a great job. I actually watched another good Scorsese mob movie in the Goodfellas last night. Both good movies.

I kind of agree with this. The ending was too cliche for my taste....especially the rat running on the railing in the final frame. Duh.

As for the other questions, I think those were left kind of open ended so one could draw his own conclusions. Personally, I think the baby was Billy's. And yes, Frank was an FBI informant. He was working everyone else while they were trying to work him.

Re: Movie: The Departed ** spoiler info **

I saw it in the theater last summer. Which one was Frank again?

As for the ending, I didn't think it was cliche at all. Kept me on edge. Didn't see a couple of those coming at all - especially the elevator ones.

But I had the same questions about the letter in particular, not so much the baby since she probably didn't really know.

What it does is leave the door open for some sort of sequel, even though pretty much everybody is dead, short of Wahlberg.

Re: Movie: The Departed ** spoiler info **

I think the baby was actually DeCaprios, because before she told Dillion it was his, she went to DeCaprios but than left after she had a realization he wouldn't be the best father. (Just thoughts)

Also, I have a feeling the ending was modified from what Scorses actually wanted. I am not sure if this was due to the movie rating, or if it was based on condensing time.

Either way, the movie is the shiz.

At one point, Psych girl (can't recall her name) is going to tell Bill something and Bill says "whatever you are going to say, wait two weeks, and then tell me." It about the same point he gives her the letter. I think she was going to tell him she was pregnant and it was his. But she doesn't. I don't know. Maybe I'm reading to much into the baby part.

Also, if she did go to Wahlberg's character with the letter, do you think she knew he would go kill Sullivan? Why wouldn't he just arrest him if the letter contained evidence? Maybe Marky Mark killing Sulliven had nothing to do with the letter. I don't know?? Too many questions.
