    LJ

Sophomore slump? I am a big fan after last year. The guy just likes to play football. No headlines. Maybe he is just learning a more disciplined game? any ideas? Last year he made headlines good and bad.

I think LJ has played pretty solid. Usually if you don't hear much out of a corner back its because he is doing his job. If you were hearing his name more it's either because A: He is getting beat up. B: He is picking the ball off. He isn't getting many throws his way..

    This.

Other teams aren't throwing his way. And they aren't kicking to him.

    Re: LJ

I actually don't think that a cornerback not making headlines is a bad thing. I think it has more to do with teams not wanting to challenge him and knowing what he can do. They are also kicking away from him. He's doing his job, teams just don't throw his way as much. He's been beaten a couple of times but that happens. Not always going to block every pass. He's only a soph. afterall. Still a heck of a player and weapon. Teams knowing he's on one side of the field puts doubt in their minds about throwing to that side.

also i think the emergence of sims has something to do with it.. sims has been a beast

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

He had a pick but for the facemask penalty by Lyle against eiu. And they are not kicking the ball to him either. He is playing pretty well, I think. Maybe one play against NDSU where he was beat, and I'm not sure that was his fault.

He has been by far our best cover corner. Has good hips and changes directions well. Others here are correct. If you don't hear his name, that is a good thing

    Re: LJ

With the addition of a strong safety, this secondary could be real good next year. We NEED linebacker's though. They need to be able to cover the short middle and bring pressure. Without pressure even the best secondary will get eaten alive.

It's all snark from here on out

I noticed during the Iowa game they were passing towards Banks way more often than LJ. I'd say he's doing his job fine.

I thought Knott looked great the other night. I am extremely excited to see what kind of player he could be for us. I wish Ferguson, Bell, etc wouldn't have left the team so Knott, Klein could have redshirted this year.

Yeah, and that's not just for the IA game either. Banks' receiver seems to be a popular target.

Exactly right. If you don't hear your name a lot as a corner... that's a great sign. I bet Kennard Banks wishes his name wasn't mentioned so often right now... because it's usually not a positive.

Nobody is throwing LJ's way... and they aren't kicking it to him either. He's already made a name for himself as a cover corner and a dangerous kick returner in one year. Teams are purposely staying away from him.

LJ has two totally amazing pass break ups. With the rest of our D why would you throw his way. He is shut down most of the time.
