The discussion begins and ends with Jahvid Best at this point.

Harris definitely merits a look. McCoy & Tebow have unreal expectations, so it's going to be tough for them. If Cal/The U can win conference titles and Best & Harris continue to play well, they should not only get an invite to NY, but should also be legitimate contenders.

Jimmy Clausen should be considered too, not a fan of ND - but he has looked good.

Jacory Harris has impressed me the most this season.

Harris has looked good. It's just tough to overlook Best's 5TD performance against Minnesota. I would agree that if we're looking at the two best performers thus far this season, it would be Best & Harris.

    Re: Early Season Heisman Contenders

I think Harris will wind up being one of those early season contenders that tapers off late. Look at their upcoming schedule...if manages to still shine through that he deserves a legit shot at the Heisman.

Have to consider Ryan Mathews from Fresno St., leading the nation in rushing and he looked very good on Thursday night, I understand he has no real chance of winning but he should be in the discussion.

If Florida goes undefeated, Tebow will win his second heisman trophy.

The only reason Tebow might not is because he has other-worldly expectations that he has to meet. Same with Colt McCoy.

    Re: Early Season Heisman Contenders

I know it doesn't mean anything to the people who vote for the Heisman, because he's the "second coming and everything," but Tim Tebow has been pretty pedestrian so far. He's averaging 180 passing yards and 50 rushing yards per game. Obviously, he's an important cog on an important team, but if the Heisman is truly supposed to go to the best player in the nation, he hasn't shown himself to be that yet.
