    Army's Stats

I was just taking a look and...if we stop the run even a little bit.. we should win. There QB is 7-18 with 94 yards on the year. The other 8-18 91 yards. They have 2 running backs and a full back that share the ball. Plus the QB. They've got 770 something rushing yards on the year.

Duke put up little offensive numbers and created some turnovers and won big vs them. We shouldn't have much of a problem.

    Re: Army's Stats

Since when did Army change to Navy/Air Force style of football? I don't remember them being a triple option team when we played them in 2005.

    Re: Army's Stats

Over the past few years our D has actually shown glimpses of looking GREAT against the run, I am very glad we are playing a run only team instead of the latter. It will not help get us ready for big 12 play but it will help get us a win.

They may not be flashy and yeah you know they are gonna run but this team is PHYSICAL as heck, come out flat and get down early, you may be playing catchup all game long. Make army throw to catchup and it's a Cyclone victory

    Re: Army's Stats

ISU will struggle to stp the triple option if the defenders don't play assignment football and just try to chase the ball. The big thing that ISU needs to do is not loose someone, like they did last night on KSUs first TD. The other thing they need to do is get on any fumbles Army has. They had 6 against ball state and only lost 1.

    Re: Army's Stats

I'm not making any predictions. I saw what Navy did to Ohio St. We struggled against Army in 05 and didn't exactly dominate the game.

It will be interesting to see. They're not going to pass...at all. Unless they're behind. Cyclones got 'em.

    Re: Army's Stats

I watched a bit of the Army/Ball State game and came away impressed with Army's speed, particularly at the RB spot. During the game the commentators were saying how it takes teams a qtr or so to get used to the style and pace that army plays at. I think slowing them down early will be a big key.

I think they went back to this style last season.

I've been saying this for a while now and imo, this is why we've been able to play against the Hawks so well defensively when they've been clearly a better team.

Funny how in the 90's and early 2000's we'd get run over by the power running teams (Nebbie, CU, etc.) when we couldn't defend the run at all. Now we can but the problem is the whole conference is winging the ball around every play.

Yup, this plays to his strength. I'd much rather have him defending the option vs trying to chase quick RBs and TEs in pass coverage. Even against Kent St. you could tell he was a step slow.
