Don't really have hockey, it is a club sport.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

What State Fan said. ISU has hockey just as much as we have baseball.

    Why Should ISU Have Baseball?

In fact why should any cold weather climate school field a baseball team? The current NCAA set-up where the season runs from Feb to mid-June is an unfair advantage to warmer climate schools.

IMO the Big East, Big 10, Big 12 North schools should push the NCAA to change the season to run from May to July. If the NCAA isn't willing to listen maybe those schools should start their own division or threaten to drop baseball.

Teams like Oregon State have NO chance to win the College World Series. Should just drop baseball.

The North schools that CHOOSE to put money into baseball are doing just fine... Alot of power has shifted north in the Big 12, Pac 10, and even ACC because the northern schools are choosing to invest in baseball. KU, KSU, Mizzu and Nebraska have had alot of success in baseball in recent years. Plus, with all the new indoor football facilities available to use, there really isn't that much of an advantage for the schools in the south other than catching fly balls in the outfield, which any D1 player should be able to do.

I could probably say more people at the school care more about the hockey team then the baseball team.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

    Hockey >>>>>>>>> Baseball.

Just my two cents. I'd give my left nut for ISU to have a D-I hockey program. Couldn't care less about baseball at any level.

Gee, Wisconsin, with their big, big budget, doesn't have baseball either...

There is a big difference in not having baseball in the Big 10 and not having baseball in the Big 12. The big 10 uses baseball to help their graduation rates and overall GPA's. Just ask any of the Iowa coaches, they are extremely hamstrung by the admininistration on who they can recruit.

Right. As proof of this post. The starter has heard about the CLUB Hockey team, but not about the CLUB baseball team. I do think baseball is a sport ISU could have some success in since there is a decent amount of good baseball players in Iowa. I really would like to see them get a team back on the field.
