    Good beers in Rochester NY?

We're going in late October and like to try local or at least different beers when we travel. Any suggestions?

Check out Beeradvocate.com for local beer stores/breweries/brewpubs.

As far as NY beer goes that I've tried, you can't really go wrong with stuff from Southern Tier or Ommegang.

I'm not sure what else they have up there, but I don't think that beer culture is all that splendid in the great state of New York.

You're actually traveling to an area that's more known for it's wine making (Finger Lakes region wineries). Hire a guide to take you on a full day wine trail tour. It's a blast (the tour guide drives).

Never had Southern Tier, but I will second Ommegang. Their Abbey Ale is fantastic.

Ommegang is basically an American brewery that is trying to copy Belgian monks trappist ales. They actually do a pretty fantastic job.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?
