A Little Perspective on Kent State

I realize that things seem really bad for Iowa State football fans right now...but members of the Cyclone Nation are not alone.

I realize that some of you already know this but Kent State will be without their starting QB and RB when Iowa State invades on Saturday night.

Take a look at this link. It doesn't seem very optimistic for fans of the Golden Flashes.

Sorry Chris, the "someone else has it worse than we do" thing really doesn't do it for me. :)

Not trying to say that at all. Just pointing out that regardless of what happened last Saturday, this is a football game that Iowa State should win.

Its a shame Jarvis is out. He's a great RB. Thats a huge loss for that program.

Anyone know of Edelman is still on the Pats roster?

I know you mean well with this comment....but you can ALWAYS find someone else who is having a hard time Chris. After about a million failures from our team I don't really see it that way anymore.

Okay...I'll quit pointing out positives from now on.

Agree fully. I posted that in the Jarvis thread. Absolutely zero excuse to do anything but win and win by a decent margin.

Sadly, should and reality have often been two very different things with this program in the last 3 seasons.

Yup. We are the ONLY team in the nation that struggles. We are the ONLY team that has had a hard time winning recently. Woe is us.

Chris, what else have you got? Can you get access to clevelqand sports writers / casters or anyone at Kent St for their perspective on the game? I don't have access to ESPN 360, so this one is driving me bonkers.

Re: A Little Perspective on Kent State

The only ominous thing is that before the Iowa debacle on Saturday, like a lot of people I was secretly bumping up our chances to win each time a key player went down (i.e. Hampton, Bulaga). Now we have the same general thing happening here. Granted Iowa has a better, much deeper team than Kent State, so it's not quite the same scenario.

This dude has been providing us with GREAT information and up close and personal interviews with ISU's biggest athletes and coaches and after one comment your gonna say something like that?

Thanks for the info Chris. I heard the RB was having issues but I had no idea that the QB was the same as well. I'm excited to watch our football team on the road in a game that is a very good possibility of coming out with a W. Haven't had that situation too much!!!

Re: A Little Perspective on Kent State

It's the Kent State defense that concerns me. It's a fairly veteran unit with pretty good stats so far this year. We SHOULD win, but our QBs need to have a better game.

Re: A Little Perspective on Kent State

If you think this is game is going to be easy, I believe you're mistaken. Kent State is no powerhouse, but they're in desperation mode and they're playing in front of their own fans. Below are some of the coaches comments:

Martin, the sixth-year coach who has yet to see a winning season, went on to say even without Kent's starting tailback and starting QB, it is time for coaches and players to collectively "show up."

"I guarantee right now we're going to have a winning season, and we're going to a bowl game," Martin said. "I'm burning the ships." That was a reference to Vikings burning their vessels when they arrived at the lands they expected to conquer.
