Wow, this is really depressing. Herein lies the problem...we have not had the talent to compete in the Big 12 for some time.
I didn't check every Big 12 team but the teams that are winning the conference all appear to have 30-50 guys in the NFL.
I did check versus the teams in both the Sun Belt and in CUSA...because in another thread someone was knocking our recruiting under Chizik because we were recruiting Florida, Texas, etc and competing with Sun Belt and CUSA schools for players...not UT and Florida. At any rate, Louisiana Lafayette has 8 in the NFL, Troy 6, East Carolina 7, Houston 8, Marshall 10, Memphis 7, So. Miss 8, and Central Florida 15.
The bottom line is that the lower tier players in this big FB states are better than the top tier players in Iowa. We simply cannot rely on Iowa for recruiting.
I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
It's sad that we have around the same number of players in the NFL as teams like Boise, Toledo, Coastal Carolina etc. But we aren't the only BCS team in this situation- Kansas, Duke etc aren't doing much better.
