    Ticket price question.

How long before $90 is too much? I think Pollard owes clone fan a refund. If the Hawks win again next year, 2011 could be a tough sell.

As long as the stadium is sold out I guess it isnt too much. At some point this team has to win, to sell tickets, when that is who knows.

    Re: Ticket price question.

i think no matter what a fan pays for a fb ticket right now, they probably buy it with the understanding of where the football program is right now. 35-3 sucks big time, but how are you supposed to grow a program with a 1st yr head coach on 25 dollar tickets, when 90s are being bought?

Think the ticket is too much? Don't buy one. Simple as that. This team will be much better in two years when Iowa returns to JTS.

It's too much when the fans refuse to pay for it. If you don't like the ticket prices stay home.

    Re: Ticket price question.

Forgot to add, if you buy season tickets you don't need to worry about the $90 price tag.

    +1

Has anyone here taken ECON 101??

Plus, it is a good way to keep as many Hawk fans out of the place as possible.

This is what I was thinking.

$90 is already too much. If I didn't have season tickets, there is no way in hell I would pay $90 for a single game ticket, to see any team playing anywhere. My Cy's Pack season ticket is $195. For 6 home games that comes out to $32.50 each game, and that is the way I prefer to think of them.

    Re: Ticket price question.

$90 - Is NOT too much. It's the Super Bowl for the State of Iowa.

If you don't like it, don't go. I paid $150/ticket for some good seats.

ISU just needs to win to justifiy the high cost.

    Re: Ticket price question.

I think it is too much, but as has been said, if people are paying it, that is what it goes for.

I think college sports cost too much in general, but that is the way things are. We are lucky that ISU has great FB and BB ticket packages for the bad seats to give everyone a chance.

I don't think Iowa raised the price last year. I believe they kept it at $65. Did you buy from a scalper?

Iowa tickets were $70. I paid $210 for our three from the ticket office.

    Re: Ticket price question.

The biggest problem isn't the price of a particular ticket. The biggest problem is that we've devalued the product and provided a negative incentive for people to buy season tickets with a confusing array of tickets, minipaks, and single game promotions. Last year, tickets were around $60 face value for conference games, and around $40 or $45 for nonconference games. But it's going to be hard to convince people to buy season tickets or even single game tickets in advance, because when sales aren't there, we add in the $195 Cy's pak season ticket($32.50 average), minipaks of 3 games for $99 ($33 average), and then when we need to, $10 tickets (SDSU and Missouri last year, NDSU so far this year). It's a kick in the cubes to people who were sold on the idea that they "had" to pay $350 plus donate $500 or $1000 to get the seats they want, only to have seats next to them sold for $33 or $10. Someone needs to get control of our ticket pricing and match it to demand.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.
