    Tiller...

I know that Arnaud is the guy moving forward, at least for the next game, but what would have to happen for Tiller to get the starting nod?

If AA comes out and has a similar performance to the one he had yesterday, does Tiller start the following week?

I know this sounds weird, but I was somewhat relieved that Tiller didn't come in and light the world on fire. I feared he might throw a quick TD or even two and we'd have ourselves a QB controversy.

I think Arnaud will settle down and end up being fine, but how long of a leash does he have?

You could bring Tom Brady in here, but he too would not light the world on fire unless the opposition feels there is at least a possibility of a run on the next play.

    Re: Tiller...

If we are forced to use Tiller as our starter right now, things are really bad. Nothing against him because he is a good player but in order for us to win games, Arnaud has to be our qb.

Arnaud will be the starter the rest of this year with Tiller coming off the bench when AA throws too many int's...Just like yesterday....

    Re: Tiller...

I agree. Arnaud is the starter and barring injury, should stay there for the rest of the year. I don't know why everyone is so amped about Tiller, he really didn't do any better than Arnaud:

    AA: 10/22, 79 yards, 4 INT's, QB Rating: 39.26
JT: 3/9, 34 yards, 1 INT, QB Rating: 42.85 And I think he was the one who threw the incompletion that would have been a pick had there not been two Iowa guys fighting for it.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

    Re: Tiller...

I expect a similar situation to yesterday. The only way AA isnt our starter is if he gets injured.....knock on wood.

I agree. He made some bad decisions with the ball end of story. The guy was obviously a little too pumped up during the game. I vividly remember on a 3rd and 10 Reynolds was wide open just across the first down line and Arnaud threw the ball around 120 mph from 15 yards away. It hit him right in the hands and was dropped. If he takes a little off of that throw there it is an easy completion and a 1st down. On a couple of his int's he over shot the receiver by quite a bit. Things like this will happen especially in a rivalry game. Stanzi had the same issues early on in the game but was able to settle himself down and get into the flow of the game. Arnaud just never looked that comfortable IMO. That being said it was just one game. I can't recall him having that poor of a game last season so I am looking at his performance from yesterday as one bad game. He is still our guy and will learn alot from this game.

Yeah, Austen's right arm would have to fall off and subsequently be eaten by bears.

    Re: Tiller...

I think AA deserves the start but Tiller should be getting some looks so AA can get a feel for what the D is doing. Yesterday he was either too pumped up or had a migraine. I have faith the coaches will take both to the films and show them where the misses were. Too many times we threw to spots were there were more white jerseys than red. I just think he locked in too quickly. Maybe he wasnt trusting his line to hold the D or the D had him rattled. Either way, there was much to learn.

Get him throwing left handed in practice so we're prepared for that then.

So we have to wait for AA to fail? that doesn't make sense

    Re: Tiller...

If AA has a game like yesterday against Kent State, I don't think he should be the starter for Army. He was terrible on reading the defense and made horrible throws. Heck, Tyler Sash didn't even have to make a play on the ball to get ints; the balls were thrown right to him.

    Re: Tiller...

He needs a good first quarter against Kent State...not sure how long coaches will wait for the offense to move the ball. He needs to come out and show he's the man. If not, I believe we will see Tiller.

I like Tiller just as much as the next Cyclone fan, but hes not ready. He needs more muscle. and more experience.
