    No Huddle?

answer me this: what is the point of running the no-huddle offense if we are not pressuring the D by getting the play off quickly and not allowing the D time to reset? I constantly saw us take the play clock down to low single digits before snapping the ball. doesn't make a great deal of sense.

Good observation... We didn't do anything to the defense. Don't know what the deal is. I think we are the product of a a new system. Which makes us look bad.

It controls the tempo and controls defensive substitutions. If we execute.

    Re: No Huddle?

It seems we were confused and disorganized. Can't believe we haven't scored a TD in 3-years vs Iowa

At least do a couple quick snaps to keep the defense honest. We just need to settle down and not try to go for long passes every down. The 5-6 yards a play will get you down the field you just have to have some patience. The no huddle doesn't mean no patience. The no huddle is all about control.

    Re: No Huddle?

    it's Ok,

I saw it also, in the long run, this was a good learning game for everybody and I think this team and staff will see it as that as well.

    We'll be getting better.

    Re: No Huddle?

I felt that way last week at the first game with the no huddle. Today though I noticed that Iowa had to rush to the line and did little adjustments anyway on D. It works I believe but we need to refine it and and get them on the line like they are and then snap it before they can think about what their assignment is. I am sure this will get better with experience.

No-huddle does not necessarily mean hurry up. Thread over.

    Re: No Huddle?

They are just trying to control tempo and control the amount of defensive subsitutions. The main problem I have is when they come out to start a drive everyone should know the play and the coaches need to run that instead of trying to control everything from the press box by changing plays all the time

So, what then is the point of no huddle? to force our players to memorize 3 dudes making hand and body signals from the sidelines? Weird.....

    Ugh.

No, this type of no huddle offense is to line up in a specified formation, read the defense and then make a play call. Is it that difficult to understand?

As i have said previously, and turned out the case in this game, that the no huddle is supposed to confuse and tire out the D, but it tired us out.

I also don't agree with running a no-huddle, and also wait for the play confirmation from the sideline. Our OL was getting gassed and cramping up.

Our offense is very reminiscent of Illinois based on the times I've seen Illinois play. I just do not like the calling the play from the sideline while the team is lined up at the LOS. For many reasons, but on a day like today, it is tough on the big OL having to remain in their stance for that long.

    Re: No Huddle?

The only people we had who got tired was the defense since they were out on the field for most of the game. It's not a hurry up, or atleast not all the time, and we do it to try to keep a consistent tempo going and to not allow the defense to make major package substitutions.

    Re: No Huddle?

With our defense, it wouldn't be very smart of us to run a hurry up offense. We're not in a position to try to lengthen games. We're just trying to dictate the defense's substitution patterns, and hoping to confuse some people by not allowing them to huddle.
