Vandervelde will be playing Saturday. Not starting, and not the whole game, but he'll be in there. Other than what's all ready known - Bernstine and Hampton, Iowa has everyone available on Saturday.

Due to the following excuse that I have widely heard today:

Iowa's run game suffered because the offensive line couldn't gel. Not all of their starters were able to play.

Wouldn't it be in the best interest to have Vandervelde not play at all to give the other guy time to gel so that you could have a cohesive unit all game? It just doesn't make sense to me.

No, because Vandervelde is likely going to take the other starting job at guard next week. It doesn't make sense to get your best players on the field?

I assume the thing your missing would be the staff thinking the Vandy's experience and talent edge relative to the other G (probably big Dan) trumps the lack of continuity. Calloway is used to Vandy next to him.

If Vandervelde is playing, his shoulder will not be near 100%.

    FWIW.

Right, and considering that the surgery was on his bicep, I'm not sure why his shoulder would be an issue. Why would Kirk put him in the game if he wasn't 100%?

Especially when Iowa doesn't really care about beating ISU.

well, because sometimes a player at 90% is still better than the 2nd stringer. case in point, kenard banks last season, he had a broken bone in his hand (or wrist?) and played the second half of the season with club for a hand. surely kenard wasn't 100% with only 5 fingers to use.

Because your biceps tendon attaches into the labrum of your shoulder. Very common spot for tears... SLAP lesion.

I know nothing about his injury, but wouldnt be surprised if this is where his injury was.

But yes... KF wouldn't play him unless he was safe to play 100% or not.

I am currently on a US Navy ship in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It's going to be a great game...

JV is not going to play much, IMO...I think a few series, tops...perhaps one.

Hey Jon, loved your prediction yesterday morning on the radio...

Are you going to change your mind Saturday? Deace didn't give you much of an option did he? The question: will he be naked AND sweaty? Or just naked.

Does it matter? I wouldn't blame you for picking the Hawks under these circumstances. However, if Steve is wearing AXE, per the commercials, you may get some of the residuals. Haha.

Yes, you are correct there. I mean, it's not fair. His statement has rendered me unable to be objective, for fear that he will follow through on his threat.
