So did they give Dish a different deal then Directv or what?
No, Dish just hasn't had to renegotiate the carriage contract since Versus went on a spending spree and bought up the NHL amongst other things.
They are looking for a ~20% increase in what customers would have to pay. DirecTV seems to not mind that, so long as it can move it to a different tier (probably the sports tier) and Versus doesn't want that.
Versus has to try to play hardball here to maximize what it can get because if they give in to DirecTV, they will have to give in to Dish and everyone else as well when it comes time to negotiate.
I tend to side with DirecTV in this one, for now anyway. I think it'll be back sooner rather than later. Versus is losing a ton of money on this at the moment, and they simply don't have a big enough carrot to dangle in front of DirecTV.
