    why is it ...

that people feel it's okay to leave bags full of trash on the ground in the lots after a football game? for some reason i'm still shocked that people do this. is it really that hard to take your trash to a trashcan or dumpster?

This always bothers me too. Its lazy. If you absolutely cant find a dumpster, put it in your damn trunk and throw it away at home.

I purposely leave mine on the ground. There isn't a shortage of people walking around to pick them up for the deposit.

    Re: why is it ...

    I wasn't there yesterday ....

But in the past we've bagged our garbage and left in a conspicuous place to be picked up. There are really not many cans out there and the ones that are are immediately overflowing.

We always leave our cans laying - usually kind of piled up. Most of the time they're gone before we even head into the game.

Obviously leaving bags doesn't bother me. But that's not what you see. There aren't hundreds of garbage bags laying about keeping things relatively tiddy. There's beer boxes and all kinds of garbage strewn about everywhere. Even if they aren't tossed into a dumpster - if people bagged their stuff it wouldn't be an 1/10th the mess it is. Heck - they even give you the bag.

I was getting at the people that toss 'em as they walk around... leaving the cans on the ground to be flattened (last Iowa game you weren't walking on grass going back to your car after the game... the whole field was nothing but flattened beer cans)

People do pick the cans up for the deposit but there are better ways to leave the cans than dropping them where ever you finish it...

Because they don't give a ****. And they'd rather leave it so they have something to ***** about when parking prices go up because we have to pay more cleaning crew people.

We've always brought multiple trash cans to our tailgates. Complete with bags. After the game, the last thing we do before leaving is take our trash bags to the lots trash can. We even have a separate can bag, seems people love that when you already have them bagged up for them.

When you come back to Iowa and start tailgating in the old people lots you'll realize that not all people are barbarians like students.

    Re: why is it ...

I am getting so tired of idiots like that who think the world owes them something. The fat couple that is always standing in the middle of the isle and blocking traffic at the store also bothers me. I used to walk around to another isle, but now I confront them and ask if they could please move. Either I am getting older and grouchier or more people are getting less considerate.

    Re: why is it ...

I think clean up crews appreciate the people that bag it up and leave it in a spot for them to collect instead of not picking it up. I haven't seen many dumpsters around to throw it in personally.

    Re: why is it ...

I bag the garbage and put it in the container. I throw all my beer cans on the ground. Every time I've ever left the parking lot there have never been any beer cans left on the ground. I figure it's better for me to throw them on the ground than make someone search through a garbage bag to get my cans.
