    I-S-U flags bothered me

Did anyone notice the big I-S-U flags that the guys run with have different shades of red. The I and U are the old bright red and the S is the new maroon. I know it shouldn't be a big deal, but come on. You had a year to figure that out. It looks tacky as hell. Last year the the cheerleaders had blue warm weather gear because they couldn't get the new maroon, and now this. Could you see something like this happening at Texas. Or Ohio State or really anywhere else?

Iowa State is trying to change perceptions of the football atmosphere in Ames, and these little things sure aren't helping.

My wife and I made the same observation. I'm guessing they printed the "S" first and forgot to refill the red ink/dye.

....couldn't see or didn't notice the flag to flag color difference from my seat, on the opposite corner. I did like the flags from what I could tell w/ the 2 shades of gold and 2 shades of cardinal.

You guys must be super observant because the guys I was around commented how cool the new flags were. I love the colors.

Yes, that was horrible. At least the cheerleaders weren't wearing Maroon. Last year during the aTm game I swear they were not our cheerleaders.

The "s" flag was clearly darker red.

We saw it. It's possible it was intentional (we do have two official shades of cardinal), but it doesn't really look like it was.

Totally agree they looked great. I just wish they were more uniform.

    Re: I-S-U flags bothered me

I saw them for a second on tv.

I thought they looked great - but you couldn't really tell a shade difference in non-HD

These color issues are getting a tad ridiculous - you're right.

    Re: I-S-U flags bothered me

The "S" flag was darker, correct.

I think this is the case because they have to have double red backing material on the "S" flag only since it is non-symmetrical. Thus it looked darker when in fact the color of all of the flags is actually the new cardinal. The "I" and the "U" would be the same on both sides so they sewed the letters on the same sheet of red flag backing.

Makes sense to me...but maybe thats not why.

Are we really talking about flags?

You could be correct. Someone should have thought of that beforehand though. It doesn't look good.

I didn't see the flags on TV long enough to notice the red, but the gold fringe was nice

I knew there was something odd when the I saw the flags go by, but I couldn't put my finger on it. That must have been it.
