    Re: Blythe Interview

That's great, but I'd rather have him reference a bowl game he played in or something. It's great to win a rivalry game, but I'd rather have bowl wins or conference championships.

    Blythe interview prior to game

Todd did a nice job but I get tired of our guys saying that beating Iowa is the biggest thrill of their careers. That kind of mindset is a recipe for mediocrity.

I agree. The sooner we quit playing this worthless game and move on the better.

The accomplishment of beating Iowa should maybe not be the pinnacle, but you can't deny that the atmosphere of the rivalry with Iowa is tough to match. It's gotta feel good to walk into Jack Trice with that crowd behind you and take it to your teams biggest rival.

Did he really say that? I would have thought beating Texas A & M at their house would have been. That was a great game for him.

Re: Blythe interview prior to game

Did you ever consider that it wasn't just the mindset, but the simple fact that we didn't have a bigger win? Did Blythe ever beat Nebraska, OU or UT, or win a January Bowl over a name school?

    Just sayin'.

Really? Many Georgia Tech players, if not all, said that beating Georgia was their biggest win last year. Are they mediocre?
Iowa is our biggest rival - and this is our biggest game. I don't see how that holds us back from beating Nebraska, Mizzou, KU, etc.

plus he was there when we beat #8 Iowa in ames. That or the away A&M game was probably the most exciting win of his career....

    Re: Blythe Interview

Bowl games are great, and they mean a ton to the program. However, unless it is a really big bowl game against a great opponent, the Iowa game has more behind it from an atmosphere standpoint. This state just gets way more excited for Clones vs. Hawks than it does Clones vs. Miami (OH).

Re: Blythe interview prior to game

lol, well, I'd assume if he ever got to play in a BCS bowl, that would have been it. I don't understand why people are so touchy about Iowa being our rival. It's in state, it's natural to want to beat them. I'll admit that aTm game was awesome, but I still get chills when I think of the 23-3 2005 Iowa game. It's just fun to beat them because you don't run into a lot of aTm fans in Iowa to talk **** to during the year.
