    Gran Torino

So I watched the movie last night and thought it was great.

I went on wikipedia.org to find that it did not even get a nomination for an Academy Award.

How in the world did that happen?

Did anyone else on this site enjoy it?

Watched about half of it this weekend but the DVD kept skipping. I was enjoying it up to that point.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

    Re: Gran Torino

I liked the movie a bunch. It did not win any awards because it is not the "right" kind of movie. The message of this movie was anthema to Hollywood.

What should it have been nominated for? It is a good flick but I can't think of any category it should have been nominated for... Maybe soundtrack with Clint's song at the end??

    There was one?

The movie was good, but not worthy of an academy award.

The Hmong actors were terrible. In particular the sister.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

I thought it was very good but I wasn't blown away by it. It doesn't compare to some of his other work (Unforgiven)

    Re: Gran Torino

yeah - we talked about it when it first came out. Lots of people ripped it because it was so stark and in your face, but I liked it a lot. I thought Eastwood did a fantastic job
