Dave Duncan may leave Cardinals after this year?

    According to Rotoworld.com:
Cardinals pitching coach Dave Duncan may leave the organization after the year.
Duncan is upset at the perceived handling of his son, Chris Duncan, by both the Cardinals media and front office. Tony LaRussa's right-hand man since 1983 has also lost influence with the front office, no longer being consulted on decisions and not seeing his philosophy mesh with the minor league philosophy. Duncan insists any decision will come in the off-season and be a professional, not personal decision. Color us skeptical. Duncan is possibly the best pitching coach in the game now that Leo Mazzone has retired. He won't have trouble finding a job. It would be a blow to the Cardinals' future as fantasy owners would no longer be able to pick up Cardinal pitchers and see them morph into world-beaters on a regular basis. Source: St Louis Post-Dispatch

Interesting I wonder if where his kid ends up would have any effect on his decison

I wouldn't be happy about this either but then I was pretty down-hearted when Walt Jocketty left. Oviously the ability to bring players on board didn't go away when he did, not with what has happened this season with Holliday, DeRosa, Lugo and now Smoltz. Guess we just wait and see and continue to believe.

That would be a big loss. That guy has made a lot of mediocre pitchers very rich after resurecting their careers in St. Louis. A lot of those guys bolted for more money and sucked once again for other teams.

The best way to get back at the Cards would be to move to the north side of Chicago.

Yes, as a Cubs fan him leaving would make me very happy. Very very happy if he headed north up I55.

Re: Dave Duncan may leave Cardinals after this year?

Would Duncan leaving ruin the St. Louis franchise? No, but it would hurt a little. Guy is a helluva pitching coach. I really hope the business decision keeps him in St. Louis.

If he does leave I wonder if he would follow Chris?

Did Chris get claimed yet? I saw that the BoSox released him a week or so ago.

Re: Dave Duncan may leave Cardinals after this year?

As a Cubs fan, I'd really like to see this happen. I'm getting really tired of him remaking mediocre pitchers into allstars.
