I think 6 wins is the key for this program.

I've actually reduced it from seven because coach Rhoades seems like such a solid guy. If ISU can scratch out 6 wins (especially with one over Iowa), I think it will open the doors to enough talent to get through the next two difficult seasons. I'm afraid anything less than that will be tough to sell to players, recruits, and maybe fans that progress is being made. The bowl game we would attain with six wins would generate enough excitement to fill the pipelines necessary to really break out in the 2012 season. Do you think six is the number?

As a side note, I reserve the right on Friday morning to ammend what number I think can keep things moving in the right direction.

Everyone knew that the tough rotation was on the way. When Chiz was around, I was just hoping that we could get to ONE bowl game with the easy schedual so that the 2 rough yrs wouldn't decimate everything....when Chiz left, I think that hurt any chance we had of that (not because he could have gotten us 6 wins, but because I think we always take a temporary step back when coaches change)

Assuming that you mean 6 = bowl game, then yeah, I think so. This team needs something... you can't just keep going along and hoping that your next coach will be a magician. I feel for Rhoads in that it's his first year, and there are these types of expectations for the team, since you already feel like the door is closing on opportunities to have a decent season.

Look on the bright side of playing Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech in 2010 and 2011. TX and OK will both be starting new quarterbacks next year and Texas Tech's spread is not so special now that everyone runs it. I think it is great that we didn't play them the last two years and there is reason to believe we could get a signature upset out of beating one of them next year or the year after.

Where are all the people who complain about weak non-conference schedules? To be the best you need to beat the best.

If we win 6 games this season, it will just prove how terrible of a coach Chizik is/was and how blessed we are to have Coach Rhoads at the helm.

I'm not sure I agree with this. If we win 6 games this year, the only thing it will prove is that Chizk could fine talent. Now, we can be homers and assume that Paul will do more with that talent than Chizik could have, and I think most will if that happens. Either way, I don't think we'll care much one way or the other if we get to six wins. That will officially end, hopefully, the Chizik era and discussions there of.

Six wins is the key to all of this. Anything less will range from mild disappointment to possible suicidal/homicidal ideation.

I agree with this line of thinking. It presents some opportunities. What doesn't kill you can make you stronger.

Re: I think 6 wins is the key for this program.

I think 6 wins would be huge, but not critical.

0-3 wins= Not the end of the world given a new system and staff, but not helpful in jumpstarting the program

4 wins= Lots of hope for the future

5 wins= Excitement, a real boost for the timeline to success

6 wins= Huge excitement, establishes immediate credibility

7 wins or more= wet dream time
