At least our was 5 years long. Some schools have glory years of one or two seasons.

41-53 Record in CF Mafia. The most games played and wins by any player in Cyclone Fanatic History. Yes, I'm a nerd.

That's actually 6 seasons, although I often try to forget 2003

I really don't know how they don't consider the 70s to be our golden era. I wasn't even alive then.

Probably because we actually won a couple bowl games during the recent stetch. I do think that 3 straight 8-3 seasons is a bit more impressive, but those records included 2 bowl losses and one season without a bowl!

I imagine Dan's accomplishments in the earlier half of this decade wouldn't seem so "golden" if the proliferation of bowl games that exists nowadays existed two or three decades ago. We actually had a 6-5 season or two that did not qualify for the postseason at the time, but would have in today's bowl climate.

That is not to take anything away from the 2000-2005 teams' accomplishments in the slightest.

The 70s certainly were. My first game was at Clyde Williams. Buddy Hardeman, Wayne Stanley, Dexter Green, Mike Strachan, Matt Blair (the list goes on) was some very exciting football. It hooked me. We tied and beat Nebraska. We had Oklahoma beat in the new stadium if not for a BS offensive pass interference call. I thought DMAC with Seneca was almost there, but it could not be sustained. Definitely the 70s were the golden era. I have said before that the win at Nebraska is the gold standard for our program.

Hey, our "Golden Years" ended when Jamie Pollard was hired. Wow, what a coincidence.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.
