    Steve Stone for Cubs president?

Steve Rosenbloom at the Chicago Tribune thinks that if the Cubs seek out a new president, former Cubs broadcaster and current White Sox announcer Steve Stone should be considered for the post.

I don't get why that would be a bad thing.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

Steve Stone is a great analyst...maybe the greatest I know.

A president of a team, he is not. That is a business position. His ego, however, most likely makes him think he'd be good at it.

    Steve Stone moment...

I think it was a year or two ago following the baseball season, was watching ESPN and Steve Stone was conducting a postseason presser for one of the teams, pretending to be the GM or something. Had people in the seats asking questions, etc. Saw a couple days later he did another for a different team. I think I saw a brief clip of a couple others.

Craziest thing I've ever seen on ESPN and they've had some odd stuff broadcast in their day.

I would be all for Steve Stone becoming the GM for the Cubs. The guy knows his stuff.

Hasn't he bashed the Cubs quite a bit on his twitter page this year?

42-53 Record in CF Mafia. The most games played and wins by any player in Cyclone Fanatic History. Yes, I'm a nerd.

As well he should. There were a lot of boneheaded moves in the offseason and during the season. This is not hindsight is 20/20 either. Milton Bradley? Letting Derosa go?

It's not like this has been difficult to do.

He's bashed the Cubs since the Dusty Baker days and for good reason.

Not disagreeing with you guys, I've done my fair share of bashing them on Twitter and Facebook as well, but I'm also not in the public eye like him either. Not sure you want someone like that in that position. He is just a member of the media right now.

If he's a member of the media, that's kind of what they do. Praise the good teams and point out the glaring, silly and frequent mistakes of the mediocre/bad ones.

Yep completely agree that is what the media do. I'm just trying to figure out why a member of the media would be up for a Team President spot?

Completely agree with wondering why he is up for a team president spot. The fans have made him into a God. That's why.

One guy blogs about it and suddenly he's "up for the team president spot"?
