NASCAR - Kansas City October 4th

I am planning to go to the ISU/KSU game on Oct 3 in KC and since NASCAR is in KC the same weekend was thinking about going to the race since I have never been to one live before. I was looking for tickets and the cheapest are around $150 each. Is this pretty normal or is there any other place I can get them cheaper. I don't want to have to take a second mortage to go to the race. Thanks

I go to this race every year. You should be able to get them for cheaper than that. I can't give you any specifics but I'd look around a little bit more.

Do they still allow fans to smoke during the race? I went to one race and that totally threw me. Why would you let fans do that? It ruined my nascar experience.

The vapors from the 43 cars are more a health risk than a minority at the track smoking cigarettes.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

I couldn't tell you. I know that there's no smoking laws in Missouri so I would assume so but again, I'm not for sure. It's never really been an issue for me at the track.

The vapors from the cars actually smell good, though!

It was the Winston cup into just a few years ago. Also most of the team HQs are along tobacco road.

Your best bet, if you don't want to spend $150 a ticket, is to wait until race time and get tickets at the race. Other than that, $150 is the cheapest I have found also.

Isn't the speedway in Kansas, not Missouri?

I don't really care about the health risk since I didn't have my son with me. It's more of an annoyance. At one point I counted 20 smokers in my area. I just thought that was a bit strange for a public sports arena to allow that.

That stuff is unheard of at baseball, football, and soccer games.

Re: NASCAR - Kansas City October 4th

You can still smoke in the grandstands at the Speedway...its so weird coming from Iowa but yes, it is legal there.

Also, don't expect to pay a lot less than $150 unless you wait until right up to the start of the race. Kansas Speedway doesn't sell single race tickets...you have to buy season tickets to get the Sprint Cup tickets. My guess is that attendance will be down this year because of that.

The great thing about the Speedway is that you can bring it food/beer/soda/etc. You just have to bring a soft sided color and you are good to go. That makes the high ticket price not quite as bad IMO.
