    Paul Rhoads Story OWH

Here's a link to a Paul Rhoads published in yesterday's Omaha World Herald. Good read. Coach is a pretty ordinary guy.

Sorry if this had been posted.

    Re: Paul Rhoads Story OWH

Thanks for the link, Chris. It's a nice story and it captures a lot of what Paul Rhoads is about and what he isn't about. It's obvious, though, that the Nebraska media doesn't think much about the current state of our football program. Oh well, I guess we shouldn't expect anything different after the last couple of years. However, they will change their tune when we become the surprise team of the Big 12 North this year!

Good article, is it sad that the OWH covers us better than the Rag? Yeah I will start up the DMR bashing.

LOL- Did he refer to himself in the third person?

What could they say differently? We lost 10 straight games and 17 on the road. We have been known to kill coaches' careers. It seems like a pretty straight up article to me.

    Keep those Positive Vibes!!!!!

It would not be a complete shocker to me if ISU won in Lincoln this year. NU does not enjoy the tremendous talent advantage they enjoyed during the '90's. I think things have tightened up alot and if the ISU offense can produce, we have a punchers chance of a win in Lincoln.

Also, ISU came close to winning the last 2 visits in Lincoln, 3rd time's a Charm.

No, it's just a fact. The Sioux City Urinal...er...Journal would blow you away though. I was in a waiting room on Saturday and looked at one (the only time I ever do) and found a quarter-page color photo and story about Collin (?) Sandeman (Iowa TE) and his possible contributions this years for the hawkeyes. The kid's not a starter and he's not from NW Iowa. I doubt even hawk fans care as much as the coverage would lend you to believe. Just more pointless garbage from the worst "newspaper" in the state.

    I was hoping it'd be a Jeff's t-shirt, but I'll let it go Coach.

Good read, thanks for posting Chris

please explain .... I can think of many that have moved on after ISU for bigger / better things... and it started their coaching career!

It's an AP story, not a story by someone at the OWH.

The SCJ, WCF Courier, and QC Times are all under the same ownership, so the stories run in multiple papers. It's their way of saving money, by sending one person out (instead of three people), then sharing the story across all of their papers. The same thing happens with the OWH and Ames Trib. You'll occasionally see a Bobby LaGesse story re-run in the OWH.

The Amari Spievey and Colin Sandeman stories were from the QC Times.
The Tom Herman story was from the WCF Courier.
Today's ISU D-Line story was by a different guy from the WCF Courier.

I wonder if this means the Courier and Times suck as bad as the SCU? I'm glad they're saving money though. They're certainly not making any by publishing a good product that people want to buy, at least not in SC.

What was up with the comment on the Iowa vernacular refering to roots as "foots" I read that and thought WTF?

Not a bad article outside of that little blip.

I think what they were trying to get at was how roots sometimes loses the "oo" sound and gets replaced by something that sounds like "ruts".

I did a double take on that too...got hung up on the different beginning letter.
