Bison will play tough, however ...

NDSU only went 6-5 last year, and had 8 players either drafted or had free agent contracts in the NFL. ( I believe quite a few more than were signed from Iowa State)

So NDSU does have the capability of producing a few NFL caliber athletes (or borderline NFL caliber as most won't actually make a team).
And that shows how much they really underachieved as a team last year at the FCS level.

8 players are now gone that were thought highly enough of to get contracts by NFL teams. 6-5 last year was brutally disappointing.
So this year will be somewhat of a rebuilding year for the Bison.

Our quarterback play was very poor last year, thus opposing teams just shoved 8 in the box against us and worked on shutting down the running game. Our running game showed the effects of that. If you stop the running game, you will stop the Bison.

Our defense is "supposed" to be really really good this year -- they will be tested against a very solid Cyclone offense. Defensive line is really good, and our linebackers are going to be really good this year. However, our depth will be tested late in the game after being pushed around by 320 to 340 pound offensive linemen all day.

    My realistic game prediction is:
    Iowa St. 30 NDSU 17

My prediction if the NDSU defense is even better than a good FCS defense
    Iowa St. 20 NDSU 17

My prediction in my own little "homer" dream world
    NDSU 23 Iowa St. 20

I would love to come to the game, but i won't be able to get off work to make the trip.

Will ISU fill the stadium, even for a game against NDSU?

Sounds like a pretty fun time.

Good comments. Shows that most of the Bison fans out there are probably level headed.

Could have done without the bolded backhand though.

Re: Bison will play tough, however ...

Heck, 44,000 would still be a nice crowd.

The Bison brought anywhere from 15,000 to 25,000 fans to the Metrodome when they played the Gophers a couple years ago. It almost became home field for the Bison. However, the main reason for that is that Minneapolis is home to over 25,000 NDSU alumni, so a lot of fans didn't actually travel far to get to the game.

I am guessing NDSU will bring less than 5,000 to the ISU game. It would be nice if they could bring more, but i just don't see it happening.

We also appreciate the proper use of capitalization, punctuation, grammar and the return key.

    Thanks for the insight.
