    Motorcycles

Ok, just ignore the fact that I've only driven a motorcycle + moped a few times and I don't have a motorcycle license.

I'm looking at motorcycles and just a basic starter. I was curious what any of you suggest for decent bikes under $5,000. I know it may be a small budget, but I don't need a 15g bike. And I'm not looking for crotch rockets. Thanks!

    Re: Motorcycles

honda's are good value lower price bikes. Magna is one. Get nothing lower than 750cc, you dont need the power now but once you figure out how to ride you want it to go on interstate etc. Go to the safety riders class. Lowers insurance and teaches you what is happening.

    Re: Motorcycles

I have never ridden one but want to get into this spring. I have been seeking out Honda Shadows. They seem to be affordable. My brother in law is a Harley enthusiest and he said a Shadow would be a great starter bike for me. Plus they look sharp and have a decent engine.

She can ride with you and wear leather chaps. I don't know if that will fly for her, but hey, I'm sure it would be a win win for you.

And I have looked at the Shadows. Those are really nice.

Take her for a ride on one. My wife rides with me 95% of the time.

Tell her you're getting a motorcycle, and then go get a motorcycle. Maybe that's why I'm not married... But then again, I do have a motorcycle.

Honda VTX 1300. Very good bike. Don't be affraid of getting a used one, they are tanks. My dad has the VTX 1800 and that bike is a Power house (for a cruiser). I spent all of my 20's on CBR's, I do not need that power anymore. Hondas are good motorcycles,..... But I am a Harley Davidson guy now.

It depends on what you want. If you are looking for the name you can find HD 1200 Sportsters for under 5k if you look around. My advice is watch Craigslist there are lots of good deals on them.

If you don't want a HD you will likely be able to get a little more bike for your buck. Honda makes a nice machine.

I've been riding for 10 yrs and there is nothing like it no matter what the brand!!

    Nice paint job.

Honda Shadow Sabre 1100cc? Can anyone give me any upsides/downsides to this? Not a bad bike here.

    Those VTX's are nice too.

    Re: Motorcycles

Best time to buy is in October and November when riding season is over here. People what to get rid of it before they have to store it for the winter. Don't by in the spring, that is when everyone has the itch to ride and raise the price.

Like CykoAGR said, does not matter the brand, as long as your have the wind in your face, and the shiny side up.
