    Inglorious Basterds

I saw this movie last night and it was pretty good. The only problem was it was way too long. It had some very good action scenes and it was very funny at times. Others who have seen it what are your thoughts?

    Re: Inglorious Basterds

I loved it. Saw it on Friday night in Ames and it was the first time in a while that I've been to a movie where the audience applauded afterward (not counting midnight premiers).

The only part where I was getting a bit antsy was the opening scene at the farmhouse, but when I reflected on it later I kind of think that scene was pivotal on really developing the characters of Col. Hans Landa and Shosanna.

I thought it dragged a little bit, but maybe that's just me. Parts of it were very entertaining, but I don't know if I'd rush to go see it again.

Loved the movie, but agree, it dragged, which could keep me from watching it again.

Loved it, the crowd applauded after (Jordan Creek, Friday night), and I didn't want it to end. I knew it would be long going in, but you should expect that with a Tarantino movie and the way he develops characters. The scene in the tavern basement was a highlight for me.

    Re: Inglorious Basterds

I thought it was fantastic. Tarantino always amazes me how he can get people to laugh at a movie that is incredibly gruesome. I found myself laughing at times and wondering why I was laughing because normally there would be nothing funny about the situation.

Tarantino is second to none in character development. He uses HUGE amounts of dialogue that sometimes seem useless at the time, but then are incredibly valuable later in the movie.

I personally loved the film and didn't even notice the length. Highly recommended from me. Not for everyone though.

Prad Pitt's character was awesome in this. Definitely my favorite performance of his. He was scary good. I honestly thought this movie could have been a lot longer and I would have liked it more. Maybe show one or two more scenes of the "Basterds" going after Nazi's. By the way, I cracked up every time I heard Pitt say "Nazi" with his accent.

    Re: Inglorious Basterds

Saw this movie Friday night and LOVED it. The English characters were awesome - I wish more people talked like that. There was one thing that really bothered me - the amount of laughs from the audience anytime a nazi was killed. I understand that Nazi's are the ultimate evil in film and in history period, but what intrigued me the most is that Tarantino had our hero's act MORE violently than the villians. It was a great twist to the genre that I think was lost on the viewers - in the fact that I've never seen a war film where the audience actually laughed or cheered when people were killed. Definetely one of Tarantino's best and one of the best films of the year.

Very true. I thought there could have been a lot more done with his part.

    Re: Inglorious Basterds

The only reason I thought it dragged was because it was getting late (10:00 showing on Friday). But it was no different than any other Tarantino movie in length.

I would definitely go back to see it again as it was probably his best since Pulp Fiction.
