    Hobbs slammed on ESPN news

Did anyone else see SportsCenter this morning when Linda Cohn slammed Ellis Hobbs? Hobbs was manned up on Reggie Wayne in the pre-season game versus the Colts. On the hightlights, Hobbs let Reggie Wayne go expecting safety help, which was not there, and ended up being open by about 15 yards and scoring a touchdown. After the touchdown highlight Cohn says "Patriot fans know all about Ellis Hobbs". I was wondering if this was in reference to what the Patriots fans (assuming Cohn is a Patriots fan being in the NE) think of Hobbs as a corner or was more in reference to the play in the Superbowl where jailbird Plaxico Burress scored the winning touchdown when Ellis had man-to-man coverage on him. Not much love for Ellis from ESPN.

You know, I didn't think ESPN used to be bias but they are starting to get pretty bad. I am a Mariners, Niners and Magic fan and until the Magic made it to the finals, I never heard anything about my teams. Now I understand some teams hold a very large market but they could at least mention them sometime. Also, Linda Cohn is not good at her job anyway so I don't expect much. I WANT KENNY MAYNE BACK.

How do you know he was expecting safety help? Do you have the Eagles playbook and know what defense they had called?

Hobbs is one of my favorite Cyclones ever for what he did both on and off the field, but it doesn't mean he is infallible on every play forever.

If a CB turns a WR loose, that's a good indicator that the CB is expecting help from the S. Otherwise, it makes no sense.

Hey shadow don't doubt Monty, obviously he is the self proclaimed internet expert how things work in this world. He doesn't actually have to see the play to know what the situations is.

He turned him lose. They commented that he turn him lose. But if Monty want the confirmation from the playbook to know I guess we should go with what Monty says.

It was pretty obvious he was expecting safety help. He jammed him on the line and released him and stay in coverage on the flat.

Now whether or not he was supposed to release him and cover the flat is the better question. It was a broken play on defense. The safety had two WR that were both going deep and picked the inside route leaving Wayne wide open.

It's a frickin' preseason game! And ESPN sucks so who cares what anyone on that network says, especially a girl!

The answer is All of the Above.

I remember having a conversation with a Pats fan after they got Hobbs and they were ******** about how short he was. I proceeded to point out that he was the average height of every other guy in the secondary on their roster. Pats fans have become incredibly greedy this past decade. They forget whence they came.

Re: Hobbs slammed on ESPN news

Why does it have to be a slam? Hobbs played a few seasons in NE, therefore the fans know "all about" him.
