Could Knicks be working on trading for Rubio?

With Minnesota Timberwolves' President David Kahn bound for Spain this week, some feel the trip isn't necessarily to bring Ricky Rubio back to Minnesota.
One insider tells RealGM's Alex Kennedy that Kahn could be working out a scenario where Rubio would be dealt to the New York Knicks.
"The Knicks have closed off negotiations with all free agent point guards until next week," says the source. "I think they're making a push for Rubio and if that fails, then they'll reopen talks with their other options.
The Knicks have been in talks with multiple free agent point guards, most notably Ramon Sessions.
"Kahn and [Knicks' President] Donnie Walsh are close and New York is looking for a cheap point guard who could help attract free agents next summer. Rubio fits that mold. I think that's what this latest trip to Spain is about, working something out with New York."
Rubio would make less than $3M during the 2010-11 season during the second season of his rookie contract.

Re: Could Knicks be working on trading for Rubio?

    why would they want him?!?!

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: Could Knicks be working on trading for Rubio?

He would be a cheap only 3million for the 2010-11 season and he has a name that could help attract a 2010 big named free agent. That said Im just not sure what the Knicks could give up that the Wolves can use that makes sense

Knicks still haven't signed Lee or Nate not that the Wolves need either anyway. Only thing Knicks can give up is good expirings
