Looks like I am in the market for a TV...

The old rear projection TV went down today, and although it is probably fixable, I am looking for a replacement. So, anyone have a great suggestion for most bang for the buck in a 46 to 52 inch panel? Any brand really stand out for dependable?

I've been a fan of samsungs lately. If not samsung, then sony.

Can often find some good deals on amazon.

I was at the Ames Target Friday and saw a 42" Magnavox 1080P LCD for $700. A 47" was only $999. Looked just as good as my 42" LG I bought a year and a half ago for twice as much.

Projection screens only work in dark rooms. If it's a living room with windows you can't watch TV during daylight.

We've had a 42" Sharp Aquos LCD screen and this very faint black line ran down the center. We tried trading it in for a new TV of the same model and had the same problem.

When you go with a big tv it is actually two screens put together.

50" Panasonic Plasma for $1,000. It's 720p but if you sit 8' away you will never know the difference. It has a tremendous picture. Do some research on it.

Are you talking about a projector with a screen? I looked at these and one would probably go good in my living room, but I waw not sure how good the picture on these are.

I have a Sony LCD rear projection. For the price I am VERY happy with it.

If I was buying one now I would probably go for a plasma.

yes I was talking about a projector with a screen. they have good picture quality, you calibrate the projected with the distance from the screen and the screen size.

Walmart had a 40 inch Sony 1080I for $728, it looked like a good deal, but we just thought it would seem so small after the 54 inch screen that died.

I bought a 26 inch Insignia for my bedroom at Best Buy today for $299. Last December they were priced closer to $500.
