    1st Half Performances

Why do we come out slow many games? We usually get down right away and have to claw to get back.

Here is a look at our 1st and second half performances in Big 12 games so far:

    1st: 23, 30, 30, 33, 16, 23, 23, 33, 26, 23
    2nd: 43, 32, 28, 32, 44, 27, 26, 38, 29, 45

Now that I look at the numbers (it really seems like we've played much better in the second half except for the Okie State game), it doesn't happen as much as I had originally thought (some games we score in the 20s in both halves) but it's still a problem IMO.

What causes this to happen? How can it get better? Without 2 horrible starts (Texas and KSU), we have a chance to win both games.

Most teams are like that...but I agree we start REALLY slow....like we're not sure what is going on for awhile. We all stand around and wait for someone else to start something.

    Re: 1st Half Performances

That's a good break down. I'm still trying to figure that one out myself. Part of me was thinking that maybe the Clones have trouble believing that they CAN play with the big teams and they come out tight and intimidated. Then as the game goes on they start to realize that they can hang with them, but by that point the damage has been done.

    Re: 1st Half Performances

Another reason scores are typically higher in the second half is that with 5-10 minutes to go in the game, one team is usually pushing very fast to catch up with points, so the shot clock is not as big as a factor.

Unfortunately for McD we play better at a fast pace than we do at a controlled pace since we have mpre athletets who cannot shoot.
