    Pitino or Eustachy?

Both had instances of greatness and while Pitino has had the better career hands down, which instance do you think was worse:

Eustachy partying with college students while on the clock at Iowa State

    or

Pitino having sex with another woman, and then paying her to kill his kid (have an abortion)

    I'd say Pitino

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

This type of discussion really shouldn't be on the football boards

I have heard both sides as to where the money went. I just think that it is interesting how Eustachy lost his job and by the looks of things Pitino wont.

The only reason LE would ever be mentioned in the same discussion with Pitino is for the debauchery of their private lives.

Pitino has had more than a few "instances of greatness". He has won over 500 games in college, been to five final fours with 3 different schools, and has one a national championship. Their careers have nothing in common.

As to which acted more inappropriately, why do we always like to grade levels of inappropriateness? Stealing is wrong whether you steal $50 or $500,000.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

    Re: Pitino or Eustachy?

Why do we always have to look at greatness? Is there a difference if Clinton cheats on his wife and the mayor of Grimes cheats on his wife? Is there a difference in what Pitino did and what a 0-30 D-1 college coach does?

You look at what act was done but igore the who factor and their status.

Yes…there's a difference (right or wrong).

Welcome to this thing we call the real world.

    Re: Pitino or Eustachy?

There is one big difference that no one has touched on, but IMO make a HUGE difference.

    Pictures.

The pics killed Eustachy more than the story by itself ever could have.

You are the one that was comparing the "greatness" of LE and Pitino. The blunt reality is that Pitino has had a great career...LE has not.

Now, I am glad that ISU showed LE the door for what he did. If I were an alum of UL I would want to Pitino to be shown the door.

    You are exactly right.

As humans we all have emotions. I think everyone has an emotional bank account.

People that we know are either making deposits or withdrawals from our emotional bank account for them. For example, Pitino's bosses at UL have an emotional bank account for him. He has made many deposits in that account...wins, national recognition, increased fund raising, etc. Now, he has made a big withdrawal from their emotional accounts...but, apparently, he has not overdrawn his account because they are retaining him.

This is how the real world works.

    Re: Pitino or Eustachy?

Level of inappropriateness does seem to matter in terms of punishment, as in most states, the severity of the crime depends upon the value of the property taken. Personally, I hope Madoff shares the rest of his life in a tiny cell with a kid who stole a candy bar- unless there is room for both to live out their lives in solitary confinement.
