Re: Gator Bowl in Discussions with Big 10

A major reshuffling of several conferences' bowl arrangements beginning with the 2010 season could land the Big Ten a third New Year's Day bowl slot and result in new homes for the Pac-10 and Big East's No. 2 teams.

Gator Bowl and Big Ten are discussing an agreement that would send that conference's No. 4 or 5 team to Jacksonville for the next four years.
So the #5 Big Ten team goes to a New Year's day bowl...I can alread hear the hawkroaches with Jan 1 garbage.

New Year's bowls are beginning to mean almost nothing. Much like every other bowl.

If they'd have kept the Alamo, they'd have had another NYD bowl anyway, no? This is much ado about nothing, right?

They are probably paying the bowls to take them, trying to prove that the conference is consequential....while everyone really knows the truth.

If we were in that conference, we wouldn't have to have a made up NYD bowl to play on January 1st, you know what I mean?!

So the big 10 has now signed with both bowl games that are on the nfl network which a bunch of people in those states don't get. Smart move Big 10

Re: Gator Bowl in Discussions with Big 10

So the Big Ten has given up San Antonio and the Riverwalk and replaced it with Jacksonville, Florida?

And as a bonus, the Big 12 no longer has Jacksonville and can add something better. Let's just hope we keep the Holiday Bowl.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

Keeping the Holiday Bowl is a must for the B12 IMO

I think all the bowl shuffling is pretty much over.

ESPN has the Texas Bowl now.

Also, the Big Ten has been with the Insight Bowl and on the NFL network for a few years now, so that's nothing new. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the Big Ten insisted on a change in the TV rights before re-signing with the Insight Bowl.

Re: Gator Bowl in Discussions with Big 10

I find it kinda funny that the Big 10 wants the Gator Bowl on ESPN instead or having it on CBS wouldn't the conference like to have another game on basic TV?
