    Re: Favorite Football Memories

I loved running out onto the field under the lights in front of a full stadium. The smell of fresh cut grass, popcorn, and burning grills in the air. Knowing that in just a few minutes, I get to go out and hit people.

    Re: Favorite Football Memories

Beating Ankeny at Ankeny 31-30 in double OT in 05. (I played for Ames). Tommy Strehlow jumped offsides on Ankeny's PAT so they decided to send Jerosh up the middle and we stuffed him for the first time all game.

Oh yeah and they rocked us at our house the year before, so it felt that much better.

Also my 1st of 2 tackles (not on special teams) on senior night against Mason City. I slipped right between the blockers on a sweep and hit the rb about 5 yards deep. I didn't play much other the kickoff and kick return, so that's probably my most memorable play.

I play for Ankeny and my favorite thing is running on the field and off the field when there is a tunnel that the kids and high schoolers make and they hit you on the shoulder pads as you run through. You get butterflies in your stomach

Were you the one with the flag, or am I thinking of the wrong game? (I was in 6th grade)

Two-a-days in mid-August on a year where the first day of camp is 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the summer.

    Re: Favorite Football Memories

I'm a pretty small guy, but I was the fastest kid on the team and played wide receiver my senior year. Coach wanted someone to lay a crack block and I just happened to be standing next to the coach. I lined up outside, saw that the linebacker was playing a bit wide and though, "oh this could be my opportunity!" Sure enough it was. Came in from the right, the play ran to right, before the LB turned I was already through him. Knocked the poor kid out. This was one of our last games of the year and we were a horrible team...the coaches stopped taping the game so I never got to see it.

Because we learn the whole show in Band Camp (I'm in the Drumline). There conditioning and learning plays, I already learned the plays in the Running back workout this summer so I am going to band.

    Re: Favorite Football Memories

I remember when we beat Sioux City Heelan in 4 OT's back in 2003. It was the first game of the year, in SC, and it was hot as crap. It was also my first game as a starter, so that was even more sweet. And to top it off, the QB was Pat Grace, the QB for UNI.

That's why two-a-days this year need to run for more days.

You do realize there are a lot more plays, right?
