    Offensive Line

I'm psyched about Stephens moving to center. I think it means that we will put a Big 12 caliber player at all five spots for the first time in a while. I think we were limited last year with Hulburt at RT and also at center, even before Knapp got hurt. I know there's only been 2 practices, but who will be the starters at LT, LG, RG, RT? I'm thinking Lamaak at LT or one guard, KO at one guard, and Haughton at RT. Not sure who the 5th will be -- Baysinger? Hicks?

People have been talking for months that Haughton might not be eligible. Well, he's in the Clone Zone videos showing O-line drills. And he looks leaner than last year. Actually looks like he can move. I can't wait to see how he does.

Imo, if Knapp had not gotten injured last year he would be the starting center this season. Big blow.
I am not sure what to make of it...I thought moving Lamaak over to C, and having Hicks be RG was the way to go. Clearly I thought wrong.
Right now I think it is:
    LT-KO
    LG-Alvarez/Hicks?
    C-Stephens
    RG-Lamaak
    RT-Haughton
    back-ups:
    C-Tuftee
    G-Hicks, Baysinger, Hulbert?
    T-Burris, Hicks?, Hulbert?

imo, Haughton and KO are going to be beasts at the tackled for the next 3 years. They have great size, while still being pretty mobile.

    Re: Offensive Line

With the way everybody has been shifted around on the line, it doesn't appear that we have any depth problems there or at all on offense. I don't suppose there are any players that could make the switch to the defensive line. Tuftee maybe???

Where did you see Alvarez as #1 guard?

    Re: Offensive Line

I would like to see things click with Baysinger and have him overtake Alvarez at guard. Nothing against Alvarez, but I think he would be suited better as a super sub at both center and guard.

The year after, perhaps Lamaak makes a similar move to Stephens.

    Re: Offensive Line

Since Stephens is a Senior I really hope they are grooming a lineman for center for next year.

that would be tuftee. hes most likely going to be number 2 on the depth chart at center.

In the Clone Zone video with Nate Frere, it looks like he is alright size, but his arms are tiny compared to the rest of him. He's tall, but prob. needs a year to get stronger.

I think the coaches consider esxperience very strongly in filling the Center position. Stephens is our most experienced, and arguably our best interior Big XII lineman. I think his experience, size and mobility will serve us well.

CPR said in an interview last week that there are two quarterbacks on the field for the Offense: the QB and the Center.

Agreed - Stephens at Center makes a lot of sense.
