    Oh no, Miles in Cincy

Word on the street is he has been seen around Great American Ball Park, which means he has been called up.

Someone has to get sent down, pitcher I guess?

Yeah, they put Blanco on the DL when they called up Gorzellany and they said they were going to have to send a pitcher down once they call up miles today. Soto is supposed to be back sometime around Friday.

Wish they'd just bite the bullet and DFA Miles. He's been worthless so far and Cubs have better options for utility guys such as Blanco and Scales.

Bringing Dunston out of retirement and his throws 8 ft over Mark Grace's head is a better idea.

Re: Oh no, Miles in Cincy

Just got this from the Cubs Facebook page...

The Cubs activated infielder Aaron Miles from the disabled list, and he was starting at shortstop Wednesday night vs. the Reds. To make room on the roster, pitcher Jeff Stevens was optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

In addition, the Cubs also released left-handed reliever B.J. Ryan and lefty Jason Waddell. Both were at Iowa. The 40-man roster is now at 37.

    I removed it.

Re: Oh no, Miles in Cincy

I guess this answers my own question...from Cubs.com...

The Cubs also announced that reliever B.J. Ryan had requested his release. He had been released earlier this year by the Toronto Blue Jays and signed a Minor League contract with the Cubs. He had pitched in five games for the Iowa Cubs and walked five and struck out four over 5 2/3 innings.

"He just didn't feel like he could help us this year," Cubs general manager Jim Hendry said. "His velocity wasn't there, fastball-wise. He was really a professional. I think he was trying to give it another whirl to see if he could help us, too."

    I removed it.

    His line tonight:

0-3, and saw a grand total of 8 pitches in those 3 AB's.

By contrast, Theriot saw 10 pitches in the one PH AB he had in relief of Miles.
