Iowa St Media Day - KXnO's coverage

Just FYI - tomorrow's Matt and Miller will have a ton of sound from Media Day in Ames including the full Coach Paul Rhoads presser. Interviews with players and coaches as well. Should be a good show. I was hammered for asking this once but I'll do it again - feel free to pass along any ?s that you would like to see asked...I'll try to get them in....

Re: Iowa St Media Day - KXnO's coverage

Biggest question is the eligibility of Scott Haughton and if Taylor Martin and Josh Bellamy are actually going to make it.

Ask if Leonard Johnson is going to run any wildcat. I know that was being thrown out there last year before he had a slight injury.

    Thanks Matt

Re: Iowa St Media Day - KXnO's coverage

Size of the Oline- will they try to force them to run the spread at a fast pace when they may be better at a more traditional power game?

Little depth (and proven talent) at LB- do they expect that to be solved by the JUCO's and freshman (Klein)? Will they play a lot of 4-2-5 to get more athletic and hide the lack of depth?

Will one of the cornerbacks possibly move to safety? How do they feel about Allen Bell? Maybe Josh Lenz (incoming freshman)?

Are they comfortable having their best players returning kick-off/punts?

    Thanks Matt.

Re: Iowa St Media Day - KXnO's coverage

Hey Matt, Thanks for your info and I enjoy listening to your show in the afternoons. Its a breath of fresh air compared to the last duo! :) I have always enjoyed K.M. but was never fond of that other guy!
My question is who do the coaches see stepping up on the D-Line? Who do they think can be the big playmaker? Could it be the West Des Moines Valley Product Jake McDonough? Will the scheme be different with a lot more blitzes and potential for sacks? I think the D-line play will be a major key to the season as I think our O will score some points. We really need help on D. What time will the interviews and coverage start? I won't be able to tune in til 5. -Thanks!

Re: Iowa St Media Day - KXnO's coverage

    Some questions:
1.Burnham or Rhoads - Where do they see the JUCO LBs (Taufoou and Lattimer) fitting in?
2.Bleil or Rhoads - When will they plan on settling on a starting OL?
3.Rhoads - Does he expect Bellamy and Martin to show up?
4.Ash or Rhoads - What kind of addition has Sims been to the secondary?
    5.Rhoads - Who are this year's captains?
6.Arnaud - Do you expect to see Tiller get some snaps?
7.LJ - Do you expect to get reps at PR and KOR this year?
8.Rhoads - Do you see any of the true freshmen skipping redshirt?
9.Bleil or Rhoads or Herman - Are these OLs too big for the type of offense you plan to run?
10.Arnaud - How are the WRs looking...especially Reynolds and Sed Johnson?

I'd also like to hear any impressions from the day. Anything from Rhoads to the players to the stadium to the field. We can't be there, so I'd like to hear what impartial observers have to say about the whole thing.

Re: Iowa St Media Day - KXnO's coverage

Media day is from 10 am to 12 noon....thus our show will be the recorded interviews that we do. If you miss anything - the entire show will be podcasted of KXNO.com. I am assuming that Paul Rhoads' presser will be the first thing we play cause that is going to be the longest of all the interviews....from there - we will try to hit as many interviews as we can fit in. 4 to 7 pm on 1460 KXNO tomorrow. Thanks guys....

From the sound of it, don't expect McDonough to get any PT this year. Hopefully that changes in the next year or two

Re: Iowa St Media Day - KXnO's coverage

One question I'd be curious about is how Coach Rhoads and staff are handling the transition with the kids learning the system and nomenclature of the offense and defense. This is had to be one of the keys to ISU getting out of the blocks quickly, I think.

Re: Iowa St Media Day - KXnO's coverage

Not a really important question, but a question to put a specific thread to rest.....Will the jerseys have player names on the back?

edit* Actually don't even bother asking such a question....that's just silly.
