Who has the most to prove?

I think Gene Chizik has a lot to prove at ISU and I know expectations will be high for him, but you cannot expect to have 8, 9, 10 wins in his first year. But aside from that, what player or coach do you CF-ers think has the most to prove?

My choice is Bret Meyer. Unbelievably disappointing junior season - we know the o-line struggled, but he is getting an almost entirely new line from Chizik, so more than likely the line will not struggle as much as last year. Bret also started to run better last year, but I think he is incredibly gifted at moving around and I just think he needs to become more instinctive on when to throw, when to scramble to throw, or when to just tuck it and run forward. Seemed like he held it too long last year and when he decided to run, he'd often run sideline-to-sideline and then have to throw it away. He needs to get up field and get what he can, bcuz he is not just a pocket passer.

I don't think anyone needs to prove me anything. I'll be happy if we have a 6-6 season next year and we play hard in each game.

Everyone has to prove themselves. No one did well enough last year to get a free pass or anything.

Re: Who has the most to prove?

    as did Eilert...

I don't understand the "realist" view that we shouldn't expect to win 8-9-10 games. To be satisfied with 6 wins is not creating a winning attitude. Maybe we won't win that many games, but as fanatical fans we should expect it!

Re: Who has the most to prove?

I think the TEAM has the most to prove. I also hope that they EXPECT to win every game. Winning is an attitude. Anyone who expects not to win every game, will eventually not be winners.

I think Mac could have won 5 games in 2007 with this team so expect at least 6 wins.

The original poster said that we can't expect to win 8,9, or 10 wins in his first season. If you expect that from Chizik then you are setting unrealistic expectations for this team and setting yourself up for a major letdown.

Re: Who has the most to prove?

I think every Cyclone fan should undergo hypnotic therapy where we are trained to think that we will be 14-0 undefeated national champions in football next year. That way the off season will be much more enjoyable for everybody.
I'm not sure, however under that plan what happens after we lose our first game next fall.

Re: Who has the most to prove?

Some are still in the previous coaching staff "SPIN ZONE"........Chizik won't spin and will be tight lipped during spring drills and game......if anything you will hear nothing but " we have a long ways to go" or "this is a transition year"...expections will be addressed to players not fans........when ISU wins games they aren't supposed to that will raise our expections...............till then this fanatic won't speculate on 10,9,8 wins.

Re: Who has the most to prove?

Regardless of what anyone says about the expectations for wins next season, the line does not need to show "improvement." There is an entirely new line, and those guys need to ESTABLISH an identity, not IMPROVE. These guys will, hopefully, be the biggest part of a hugely improved team.
