    Computer question re: driver downloads

I just reformatted an old Dell Latitude D800. I'm having trouble with my wireless adapter, but I think I have a driver problem as I'm getting this message in my Device Manager: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39).

The device that [I believe] I need to download a new driver for is a Broadcom 802.11 Multibad Network Adapter, driver version 4.170.77.3.

Where is a good place to fine this driver download? I've found a few places, but no luck with the downloads. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Computer question re: driver downloads

I think you mean 802.11 Multiband Network Adapter

I would suggest pulling out the card and trying to find a model number on it. This will be your best bet of finding the appropriate driver

CNet has this Broadcom 802.11 Multiband Network Adapter - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

but I don't know how helpful that would be

Re: Computer question re: driver downloads

If it is a dell go to support.dell.com ... on the back of your PC should be a Service Tag/Express service tag... Enter that onto dell.com and you should be able to find the driver.

Oh, didn't read where you said Latitude, I was assuming it was a tower for some reason, and figured you put the card in.

Like superdorf said, go here Dell Support Home Page

Re: Computer question re: driver downloads

I had visited there already and they did not list the appropriate driver. In fact, they didn't list any drivers for Broadcom Multiband Network Adapters.

Then that isn't what you have... What is your service tag?

When I enter my service tag on the support site I get the same list of drivers.

Nope. I'll give it a shot. Now once I've downloaded it, do I update the driver through the device manager, or do I use another route?

    Thanks for your help.

All those drivers from dell come with installers that will take care of it all for you

    What bader said...

I don't see any "wireless" broadcom cards listed for that service tag... So something is definitely a-miss.
