English 314 Testout

I don't know if any students were planning on taking the Engl 314 test out this semester, but if so you may want to rethink this. Apparently they must want the smallest turnout possible so they decided to move the test to September 12 from 9:00 to noon. For those of you that do not recognize this date it happens to fall during the Iowa game.

Don't you think that this would have sent up an alarm somewhere with someone or do you think that was actually their intention?

Knowing the people in the English department, I think it is safe to say it is intentional.

Technical writing isn't it? I imagine that the English department is still having to make cuts, so them offering fewer classes probably doesn't sit well in the department.

I think the day of the testout is probably not a coincidence.

Being an English department alum, I will say it is more likely unintentional as most of their faculty have little understanding or interest in athletics.

302 is the same day, if you are a business student.

Maybe I'm thinking 344, I'm not positive anymore.

I will never forgot John "Jack" Hagge telling me about his ISU fandom. "I was a fan when I first got here. Went to the UNI/ISU game and we lost. I said 'enough of this' and am cynical and apathetic about the team now."

I am an English department alum as well. True, most don't care. The only response I've ever seen is annoyance, apathy, or revulsion with athletics.

Side note to previous poster: Hagge is the bomb.

FWIW - the test is at 8:30 am, so if you really want to take it, you should be able to take it and be done way before the game. You wont' get as much tailgating time, but it is still do-able.

ENGL 150 Placement (serves as Test-out)
Thursday August 20th, 8:30am, Pioneer Room
    Show up.

ENGL 250 Test Out (register by August 26.)

Yea, there are a couple mean-spirited english people. Carl Herndle and a professor that left (I think) a couple years ago. His wife taught at Iowa, and they lived about an hour from each University. Those two were notorious about their revulsion.

    Re: English 314 Testout

Found this funny - they must know about the date conflict....
The 250 Test-Out Exam is offered only twice a year on the first Saturday of the fall and spring semesters. No exceptions are made to the scheduled test-out date except for religious reasons. (A second part of the exam is administered on the Saturday two weeks later, for those who pass the first part. Again, there are no exceptions to the date of this second part, except religious reasons.)
I really liked it too. The added bonus was that I was the only guy in the class.
