Re: College Football Revenue for 2007-08 season

Well that is about what I figured, but it is kind of depressing. Last out of all BCS schools except a couple Big East schools. Of course we were pretty bad last year, if we start winning some more games and make it to a bowl we can bring that up. Of course alot of teams will probably have lower revenue this year with the economy.

Kansas was #11 last year? Wow that is a surprise.

Wow, Iowa sure has a lot of resources available to them. I would expect better winning out of all of their programs (sans wrestling) with all that money.

The chart is total revenue, not just football revenue.

So... this obviously begs the question.... what should "realistic" expectations be for our athletic department given these statistics?

Anything better than last place in the Big 12 in any sport is actually over-performing, correct?

If everything depended on money then yes, but that is not the case.

    Read it again.

"The chart in this blog entry ranks all Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly known as Division I-A) schools by the total revenue they took in during the 2007-08 reporting year. These revenues include generated revenue (such as proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships) and allocated revenue (such as tuition waivers, money from student fees and direct institutional support.)"

The only mention of football is that they used FBS to categorize the schools they charted.

It is total revenue in football (including ticket sales, bowl winnings, etc.). I've seen this chart before, it is football revenue according to a Big Ten board that I am a regular on, unless I was misinformed on that board, which I could have been.

Either way, it should be no surprise why the Big Ten is the most wealthy conference in college sports - 4 of the top 6 schools are from the Big Ten, and with the revenue sharing agreement that the Big Ten has, that translates to a lot of money to all the schools.

The EADA report lists the $81 million for UI as: "Grand Total for all Teams (includes by team and not allocated by gender/sport)"
