    Rivals rankings vs. results

    This is totally unscientific, but...

I took a composite Rivals recruiting ranking (sort of...I got lazy and just gave a school a ranking of 26 if they were out of the top 25 in a year) from 2002, 2003, and 2004 just to see how the top ten list compares to the final AP poll this year.

    Rivals three-year composite class ranking:
    1. Georgia
    2. Miami-FL
    USC
    4. LSU
    5. Texas
    6. Florida State
    7. Florida
    8. Tennessee
    9. Michigan
    10. Auburn

    Final AP poll this year:
    1. Florida
    2. Ohio State
    3. LSU
    4. USC
    5. Boise State
    6. Louisville
    7. Wisconsin
    8. Michigan
    9. Auburn
    10. West Virginia

50% of Rivals top-10 classes finished in the top 10 including champ Florida. All 10 were in bowl games this year, although Miami-FL and FSU barely made it. So how much stock can you put in their rankings? Eh...so so, I guess. I am a dork with too much time on my hands, I know.

By the way...Boise State's three-year average ranking? 86th. Wake Forest's average was 76th (didn't they win the ACC?).

    Re: Rivals rankings vs. results

I just noticed on Rivals that our recruiting class was ranked 11th in the Big 12 this year, and 12th in average stars. So then I went and checked out the North schools and it looks like everyone had solid recruiting classes with Nebraska finishing first.

No big deal. I still like our class and think we filled several holes with some quality JUCO guys.

Some of small Div 1 schools have hard time even attracting a two star.
