    2008 recruiting

I know today was just signing day for 2007 however I was looking at all the teams in the conference and who they signed. Then I took a look at 2008. Did anyone else see Texas A&M appears to already have 10 verbals. Also appears for 2008, Nebraska has a verbal from Dan Hoch a 6-7 290 OT from Harlan, IA. Gene needs to see if he can get him to switch to the good guys.

Dan Hoch would be a great catch.

An Aggie friend of mine pointed this fact out to me on the way to the ISU-A&M b-ball game last week. It's simply a consequence of the fact that they beat Texas this year.

    Re: 2008 recruiting

You have to remember that Gene is fighting against a long held belief about Iowa State, it isn't going to happen overnight. There obviously wasn't a whole lot of respect out there for our football program, and kids see that. I like that this staff just went about their business, and isn't too worried about publicity.

Do you remember all the excuses that the previous staff used to make for their recruiting (forget all the excuses for the way they coached the games) as to why we weren't bringing in the quality of player that is needed to compete in the Big 12. This staff went about their business, and we didn't see Gene doing interviews all over the place because he WAS DOING HIS JOB (what a novel concept, I know). Gene already has me won over because he has yet to tell me how good of a job that he has done (if that ever starts then he better be winning conference titles). We have coach that is actually COACHING, I love it.

McD recruited two classes in 6 months. Gene is in the same boat.

    Re: 2008 recruiting

Make no mistake...our coaches were not only recruiting 07 signees the last couple of months, they were also recruiting 08 signees and possibly 09 guys as well. When they go into a HS in Texas or Florida the chances that they are producing DI talent every year is greater than at a HS in Iowa.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
