    Home and Away games payoff

Listening to Iowa fans squawk about the lopsided contract we have with them made me wonder. When 2 BSC out of conference opponents play each other what is a typical financial arrangement?

Good question. If I had to guess, I would say they would more than likely arrange for a home and home or a 2 for 1 with the home team keeping 100% of the gate.

Could be wrong, just my guess.

I believe starting in 2012 both schools keep their own receipts and there is no payout to the other.

    Since that's the newest contract - I'd presume it's a typical scenario. But really I don't know.

Not all home and homes are exactly the same, but I would think generally this is the typical scenario from those I recall.

So thern why did not these avid hawk fans not buy out their allotment of tickets? Gas prices too high? Would rather watch on VERSUS? Scared of Ames? Too uppity to ride I-80?

Contracts certainly differ team to team, matchup to matchup.

I'm not sure I've ever heard of another "payout" for regular BCS games. Don't recall hearing anything about the upcoming games against Utah or Air Force having payouts. Not sure there's one in place for Army this fall either.

I think that usually the home-and-home nature of these contracts is the "payout".

Payouts are more common for BCS schools to sway mid-major or AA schools to come to the BCS home field and play without the return visit.

2012 is actually the last year of the current deal, not the first year of the new one.

Hey, by 2013, we will be good. We need an extension.

    Curious:

Who had to sign off on the approval of the current ISU/Iowa series?

I know - I was just furthering the point in that I haven't heard of any other ISU games having payouts aside from the "lesser" competition (and the iowa game obviously).

(Yes - I had a difficult time typing "lesser", but the mental thesaurus has run dry)

If anyone knows of payouts for the BCS teams we're playing, I'd be interested to hear it.

I know you didn't but the guy above you did, and since he's blocked, I was only able to see it when you quoted him.

    Sorry to bother you?....

Re: Home and Away games payoff

I was not intending to start another ISU vs IA thread which is why I put it in Collge Sports. I was curious for example, the Texas - Ohio St series. Did both schools keep all the gate? Or like ISU going to Kent State this year. I realize we got two home games in this series but there can't be much gate revenue at this one. I know a few years back Kent State was averaging less than 10K in atendance. Do we get anything for going there?
