Re: Eligibility Rule Change for Foreign Players

Ah, yes. A rule that only existed long enough to penalize ISU and couple of other schools. Nice job NCAA.

Does this mean Kansas is recruiting some foreign players?

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Re: Eligibility Rule Change for Foreign Players

The eligibility case of Standhardinger, a 6-8 wing player considered a key piece of Sadler's recruiting class, now rests with the NCAA Clearinghouse.

Can the fact that a bylaw has been proposed to end vicarious professionalism in the future help Standhardinger now?

“I don't know,'' Rogers said. “But I'm sure a lot of people will be citing our legislation to try.''
If this Standhardinger is allowed to retain eligibility based on an NCAA rule-change that hasn't even been implemented yet, then I don't see why ISU couldn't use this to file a greivance against the NCAA to get Staiger's year of eligibility back.

Re: Eligibility Rule Change for Foreign Players

Even if this passes and Lucca could get his year back, would he actually take it? If he was close to going pro in Europe after just one year of playing at ISU, should we really expect that he would stick around after three years? No, IMO.

    Winning cures all.

I don't see where this rule has been passed. It looks as though it's being presented to the NCAA but knowing them they will decide to implement whatever makes the least sense.

Re: Eligibility Rule Change for Foreign Players

Even if Lucca didn't want the year, I think Lucca should still fight for the year. It should be his option if the rule changes. It shouldn't be a matter of "well, he wasn't going to use it anyway". It is a matter principle.
