Preparing to Play in the Big 12

    TheMercury.com - K-State Sports Article

Are the Cyclone mens basketball players involved in this type of a program. Is it what they need to compete for a Big 12 title again?

I imagine every Big 12 school has a philosophy on strength and conditioning and I bet they are all pretty tough.

I'm sure everyone has a program, just may vary a little.

I thought I read a quote from one of the players that they were pulling sleds on the football field.

If we succeed in the Big XII this year, it will be because we win all the games against the mid to lower teams in the conference, maybe lose a game. Then steal a game from Kansas or Texas or Oklahoma.

Re: Preparing to Play in the Big 12

"Not sure the K-State is who we should model our program after, thery are not exactly a perrenial Big XII power." However, K-State is now among the leaders in rebounding in the conference and has basically came from dead last in the standings to finishing in the top half to third of the conference. What I have noticed is that other than Brackins, the ISU players lack muscle definition and seem to not have success in physical games.

This is not coming from a flamer. Both of my children are ISU grads and I live in Ames. Needless to say, the Clones are my second favorite team. Mac seems like a decent fellow and I would like to see him be successful and stay around.

Is our basketball team going to tackle the opponent coming off the bus?

Not opposed to it, actually I find it awesome - if it works.

Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

I don't think you're going to get any disagreement on this point. Hopefully Christopherson, Gilstrap and Pomlee will bring a little more muscle to our line-up. We need guys who aren't afraid to stick their nose into the pile and come up with the loose ball. DG, Lucca and JVB are talented in their own ways but all three are very tentative when going after rebounds. I'm hoping the new guys will push them to play harder.

On the contrary, I only wish our team played with the toughness, physicality, and rebounding attitude of K-State.

Ran across Alex Dorr the other day, hadn't seen him since tournament, looking a little different. He said it was alot different working out at Ames than at high school. Said he has added about 20 lbs since the tournament. Like to see an inch or two of height along with his rebounding skills; might push the older kids. He deffintly has bulked up.

    K-State is hilarious.

edit: link removed, point still remains. Didn't mean it to be "arrogant" at all.
