The Saucy Southerner is a beautiful thing, and for only $4.25, you can't miss. Best BBQ sandwich on earth? Surely not, but I do love it.

Yeah but dont forget, in the same issue we ISU is in the top 10 for terrible BCS teams.

I have to say though, the area getting 2 nods in one issue is fantastic.

I used to run the slicer at HP back in tha day, and the leftovers from that was what went into the Saucy Southerner. I would never buy one, cause there are so many other better things for about the same price.

Mmmm...Saucy Southerner. My husband and I got married on Friday and chose the SS as our meal because it is so cheap. We have been eating leftovers and will be for at least a few more days...and we are not sick of it yet.

Hickory Park is a lot cheaper. You can't sniff a sandwich and fries for $4.25 at Battles. Either way, Jimmy's in Boone is better than Battles.

    And?

I love the Cyclones, but as far as the last 3 years go, with respect to finding 10 teams worse than us in BCS conferences (not just D-1 but BCS) you're going to be hard pressed. I don't know the context of the article, but if it's just current state of programs in the BCS, we can't be much above the bottom 10. Because I assume they are talking Mens BB and Football. Maxim readers don't care about anything else, and I haven't had a lot to cheer about as far as results in those two programs in what's rapidly approaching half of a decade.

They gave us the nod on the Saucy Southerner, that's more than I would expect. Between that compliment and the BCS comment they're being generous to us overall. It's a solid sandwich but being in K.C. right now I'd have a hard time saying it's better than a burnt end on a bun from Gates BBQ or the Smokie Joe from Oklahoma Joes. Best value going to saucy southerner sure, but not best BBQ sandwich in the world.

Let the hate for admitting I feel ISU is a bottom 10 school in the BCS recently begin.

We have been, but I have hope that we won't be any longer.

I too worked the slicer at HP back in the day. Never, ever, ever ate a Saucy Southerner. Not sure how it ever made it past the health inspector either.

After living in Ames for 4 years, I found that Hickory Park and Great Plaines are 2 of the most overrated restaurants in the history of overrated restaurants.
