Re: Most Jucos in the land...

I can see why we went the Juco route because our O-Line was so bad but it also concerns me we didn't land more preps as we need to build this thing for the long-haul not short term. Mac got criticized for relying too much on the quick fix Jucos at times too and look where that got him...

Re: Most Jucos in the land...

I have no concerns about too many Jucos in this class simply because Chizik and Company have only been on the recruiting trail for 3 months. Now if we have 12 Jucos in next years class, then I'll begin to worry.

Re: Most Jucos in the land...

We aren't the only school with a new head coach though and we still have 2 more juco signings than anyone else in the country. Minnesota and Michigan State both got new coaches and they had 9 juco signings combined.

Again, not saying this is a terrible thing, I just hope this is not a common occurance.

yeah but out of all the other new coaches that took jobs, how many recruits did those schools have already that they were able to keep. If I remember coorectly chiz only had 6 to start with when he came in

Re: Most Jucos in the land...

I don't get too worked up about these ratings. Boise State is at #103 and we all know what they've done the last several years! Cinci has also been a good team recently and they're at #98.

We all knew that ISU's class would be full of JUCO's this season so this is no surprise at all. Go Cyclones!

In the end it matters not if they are Juco. What matters is if they can perform and make an impact day 1.

Re: Most Jucos in the land...

We also signed a lot of Linemen, who rarely carry a high rating, as well as JUCO players. I always like to see that the JUCO players ratings drop after being out of high school for a couple years, even though there play has improved.

we are ranked has high as 59 at rivals and iowa is 30. Now we are 91 and they are 51 I think. ESPN's coverage of recruiting isn't the best IMO.

Wow, Baylor has pulled in 31 recruits? Sheesh.

    True and Valiant

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Pretty simple formula for the talking heads the rank this stuff.

ranker #1 - "This class looks pretty good, average the players in the class divided by some other crap.... ah 59th best class in the country!"

Ranker #2 - 'Uh, that's Iowa state, they dont really get a ranking that strong, after all the players that go there didn't have any other options...sooo multiply it times 2 then subtract their last starting running back's jersey number what does that leave you?"

    ranker #1 - "91"

Ranker #2 - "Sounds good 91 it is."

    thats awesome

    1. going state to state to recruit... $500
    2. giving players scholorships.... $250,000+
    3. getting poor recruiting rankings because your iowa state.. priceless... theres some things money cant buy, for everything else theres Chizik

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."
