    Tiger Tantrums?

Rick Reilly - Tiger Woods needs to clean up his act - ESPN

Do you have as big a problem with the way Tiger acts on the course as Rick does?

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

He is pretty much a dick when things aren't going his way. I've seen him play a few times, and he does swear like sailor.....great times for the kids that follow him.

Well written article and great take by Rick Reilly. He also points out all of Tiger's positives.

    Re: Tiger Tantrums?

Didn't read the article. But short answer is no.

I wish he'd watch his language a bit more, being that he's always on the broadcast.

But he has literally millions on the line with almost every swing. He seems to be under more scrutiny than a ball player who wigs out. Why is what he does worse than two hockey players who lose their cool and go at it? Heck, people GO to hockey games for that very reason. Granted, golf is more of a "gentleman's sport". But until he goes Happy Gilmore and tosses the bag into the closest water hazzard - I don't really care.

This is different from other professional athletes how? I'm sure there are some gems from when different football players are mic'd up, or hockey players.

Tiger's a baby. Swinging and throwing clubs on the course is something I used to do. Swearing doesn't bother me.

Me either....but kids on the course hear it and these kids idolize him, they bring it back to their course and their golf.

I cuss a ton on the course and I have thrown a club before but kids are never around. Tiger is fun to watch, so I could care less with Rick Rielly writes.

I thought it was pretty funny watching the #1 player in the world behave like a weekend duffer.

    Re: Tiger Tantrums?

I know a buddy who was present at the Doral tournament when the F-Bomb incident below occured and he told me that it was very a ugly & embarrasing incident and left him with a lasting negative impression of Tiger.

That's unfortunate, because I admire Tiger for his work ethic - much like Michael Jordan, another prima dona / ego-centric trash talker, these two guys exemplify commitment to practice and improvement.

Too bad they all can't act like Roger Federer, Kurt Warner or Greg McDermont.

Once, at Doral, he unleashed a string of swear words at a photographer that would've made Artie Lange blush, and then snarled, "'The next time a photographer shoots a [expletive] picture, I'm going to break his [expletive] neck!"

My dad told me back in the 60s(?) there was a televised golf event and the guy missed a putt and dropped an F-bomb. He then realized the situation and said "excuse me". The announcer wasn't very pleased.

Golf and tennis should be played with crowd noise. Until that happens I refuse to watch those sports.

    Re: Tiger Tantrums?

I respectfully disagree wholeheartedly with Rick.

Let the guy be himself. I'm so tired of sanitized marketing drones (ala NASCAR) who's entire goal is nothing but make the sponsors happy. People ***** and moan at Tiger because he's a robot and then he shows some emotion and then people ***** and moan about that too?

These guys aren't heros, they are just people who happen to be athletes. Blame the society for hyping them into more than they are, IMO, but don't blame the guy for being who he is. If he sees a need to change because HE feels embarassed by his actions, I have no problem with that. But don't go imposing your morals on the guy because he behaves in a way that you disagree with.

Now, if sponsors have a problem with it - they have plenty of recourse. As does TV, and even the PGA. ESPN, if you don't like it, stop showing him. Plain and simple. It's freaking absurd.

    Re: Tiger Tantrums?

What Tiger fails to realize is that he is the best player ever, so when he hits a bad shot, people know its a bad shot. We don't need to see him act like a little leaguer who just struck out. Tiger it was a bad shot yes, grab you damn club and show me what the best player ever does after a bad shot. If Tiger hit every shot like he expected, there would be no need to play the tournaments.

By the way, anybody ever have the opportunity to sit behind Larry Eustachy during games?
